US HISTORY:

Group Reading Project

• First, work together as a group and close read the article Digging Up The Past in the back of chapter 1.

• Second, as you do, look for direct or indirect investigative questions about Cahokia.

• Third, write down FIVE of these investigative questions, and explain what tools or techniques were used to answer the question. Responses must be in complete sentences.

Example: In paragraph five, on p. 20, Thomas Jefferson indirectly asked, “Who built the mounds of Cahokia?” He dug up skeletons and artifacts to find his answer.

WORLD STUDIES:

We discussed yesterday’s map activity and turned in the map and the reading facts from section 1.4.

Next, we worked on Map Scales (section 1.5) and practiced measuring distances using a handmade ruler.
