THIRD DAY

US HISTORY

Today’s learning target: Know and understand the themes of US history and how they relate to the subject. Exploration nationhood, citizenship, reformation, community, individualism.

Success criteria: “I will have accomplished this when my partner and I can explain their definitions and how they relate to US History.”

ASSIGNMENT:

1. With a partner answer this question in a sentence or two: “What do you think is the purpose of US History?”

2. Next: With your partner look up the definitions for the 6 themes of US History. Sometimes words have more than one definition. ONLY write down the definition for each theme that you feel best relates to the subject of US History.

3. For EACH definition, explain in a sentence how that definition best relates to the subject of US History.

4. Information will be compiled onto a poster, which will be presented to the class.

This will take several days to complete.

WORLD STUDIES

Today’s learning target: Know and understand the themes of World Studies and how they relate to the subject. Location, Movement, Place, Region, Human Environmental Interaction.

Success criteria: “I will have accomplished this when my partner and I can explain their definitions and how they relate to World Studies.”

ASSIGNMENT:

1. With a partner answer this question in a sentence or two: “What do you think is the purpose of World Studies?”

2. Next: With your partner look up the definitions for the 5 themes of World Studies. Sometimes words have more than one definition. ONLY write down the definition for each theme that you feel best relates to the subject of World Studies.

3. For EACH definition, explain in a sentence how that definition best relates to the subject of World Studies.
